WEST BANK, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), The Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, welcomed on Wednesday the report issued by Amnesty International, which documented the crime of ethnic cleansing targeting Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.
The Movement said, in a press release, that the report confirms that settler attacks do not represent isolated individual incidents, but rather fall within a systematic policy led by the Israeli government and enjoy official support, which constitutes a clear violation of international laws and conventions.
Hamas considered that what was stated in the report regarding the international community’s failure to perform its legal and humanitarian responsibilities in facing these violations reflects a failure to protect the Palestinian people and grants Israel cover to continue its policies.
The Movement emphasized the importance of the data and recommendations included in the report, calling for activating legal accountability against Israeli leaders before the International Criminal Court and competent judicial bodies, and taking practical steps to stop the continuous violations against Palestinians.
It also demanded the imposition of sanctions on Israeli officials involved in policies of forced displacement, land seizure, and settlement expansion in the occupied West Bank.
Amnesty International had confirmed in a report it issued on Wednesday that Israel is accelerating steps aimed at annexing large parts of the West Bank, through escalating operations of forced displacement and settlement expansion against Palestinians.
The report pointed out that these policies are carried out within an organized campaign led by official Israeli institutions, and are not limited to the practices of settlers or the positions of specific officials, warning of their repercussions on the Palestinian presence in the occupied territories.
The organization stressed the need for the international community to act urgently to stop Israel’s annexation plans and settlement expansion, and to hold those responsible for violations targeting Palestinians accountable, especially in the Bedouin and pastoral communities in areas classified as C.
The report came under the title: “Erasing all that is Palestinian: Israel’s ethnic cleansing against Bedouin and pastoral communities in the West Bank.” It confirmed that the annexation of Palestinian lands has become a declared political goal of the Israeli government.
