Book “Palestine: Two Years of Al-Aqsa Flood” Launched at Karachi Press Club

Karachi (Palestine Foundation Information Center) Speaking at the ceremony, author Muhammad Osama Shafiq said that his book seeks to document the events, protests in Western societies, political responses, and intellectual shifts concerning Palestine from October 7, 2023, to October 7, 2025. He said the purpose of the book is not merely to recount events, but also to understand the gap between the positions of Western governments and their people.

He said the Palestine issue is no longer confined to Gaza but has become a subject of public protests and debate in cities around the world, including London, New York, Washington, Berlin, and Paris. The book attempts to preserve the voices and movements that have spoken out in support of the Palestinian people.

Muhammad Osama Shafiq said the book has a close connection with journalism, as one of the fundamental responsibilities of journalism is to preserve the events, facts, and voices of its time. He noted that journalists in Gaza not only provided the world with news during the war but also bore witness to the situation, with many sacrificing their lives while carrying out their professional duties.

He said Gaza’s journalists had made their pens, cameras, and voices part of history, demonstrating that journalism is not merely about reporting news but also about bearing witness. Bringing the truth to light despite pressure from powerful interests and official narratives remains a fundamental responsibility of journalism, he added.

According to the author, the book aims to leave behind a record for future generations that can help them understand how Western societies viewed Palestine after October 7, 2023, how the public responded, and what questions Palestine raised before the conscience of the world.

The ceremony was attended by Karachi Press Club President Fazil Jameeli, Secretary Aslam Khan, Professor Dr. Tahir Masood, Professor Dr. Tauseef Ahmed Khan, Professor Dr. Nigar Sajjad Zaheer, Professor Syed Shahid Hashmi, as well as journalists, academics, intellectuals, and other distinguished guests.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, the author thanked the participants, the Karachi Press Club administration, and all the guests, saying that it was an honor for him to have the voice of his book raised from a prestigious journalistic institution such as the Karachi Press Club.
