NEW YORK, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Colombian President Gustavo Petro has likened Israel to the “Nazi regime” in his new remarks on the genocide carried out against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
Speaking at a recent UN Security Council meeting, president Petro condemned the Israeli occupation regime, accusing it of killing tens of thousands in Gaza.
“Those numbers [Gaza casualties] cannot be hidden. No political or economic interest can conceal that fact. That is the real red thread of what I’m going to say here, which is we’re going back to the era of the Nazis,” the president said.
He added that Israelis rained down rockets on people, including children in the Gaza Strip.
The Colombian president officially severed diplomatic ties with Israel on May 2, 2024, citing the Israeli government’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip.
