CAIRO, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty on Sunday called for the implementation of US President Donald Trump’s peace plan, stressing that lasting security and stability in the Middle East depend on the Palestinian people obtaining their legitimate and inalienable rights.
Abdelatty made the remarks during a meeting with a delegation from the United Nations Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, headed by Coly Seck, on the sidelines of the Jerusalem Conference in Cairo. The conference was jointly organized by the UN committee and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tamim Khallaf said Abdelatty emphasized the importance of implementing President Trump’s peace plan, reiterating that peace and stability cannot be achieved without restoring the Palestinian people’s full legitimate and inalienable rights.
Abdelatty said Egypt remains committed to supporting the Palestinian cause, describing it as a cornerstone for achieving security and stability in the Middle East. He reaffirmed Cairo’s commitment to defending Palestinian rights in regional and international forums.
The foreign minister also condemned ongoing Israeli violations in the occupied West Bank, including settlement expansion, land confiscation, and repeated attacks on religious holy sites in the occupied Palestinian territory.
He called on the UN committee to continue its key role in mobilizing international support within the United Nations to pressure Israeli occupation authorities to comply with international law. Abdelatty also reaffirmed Egypt’s rejection of any attempts to liquidate the Palestinian cause or forcibly displace the Palestinian people from their land.
For their part, the committee’s chair and members expressed appreciation for Egypt’s longstanding and pivotal role in defending Palestinian rights at the regional and international levels.
