CAIRO, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty on Sunday called for the completion of the Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and the implementation of agreed commitments, following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s rejection of the Peace Council’s plan for the enclave.
Abdelatty made the call during a phone conversation with Nikolay Mladenov, High Representative of the Peace Council, according to a statement issued by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.
Abdelatty and Mladenov discussed the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and ongoing efforts to complete the implementation of US President Donald Trump’s plan, as well as the roadmap for fulfilling the remaining commitments under the Gaza peace plan.
Abdelatty stressed the importance of implementing all agreed commitments, including ensuring the full, safe, and sustained delivery of humanitarian aid and completing the Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, paving the way for the transition to the second phase and supporting early recovery and reconstruction efforts.
He also emphasized the importance of enabling the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza to begin carrying out its temporary duties from within the Strip and moving forward with arrangements for the deployment of the International Stabilization Force.
Abdelatty underscored the need to preserve the territorial unity of the Palestinian territories, with the ultimate goal of enabling the Palestinian Authority to assume its full responsibilities in both the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
He stressed that all parties must fulfill their obligations and refrain from taking any measures that could obstruct implementation or undermine the progress already achieved.
He also emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to consolidate stability in the Gaza Strip and create the necessary conditions for moving to the next phase of the peace plan.
Earlier on Sunday, Netanyahu announced Israel’s rejection of the 15-point document published by the Peace Council regarding Gaza, saying the Israeli military would not withdraw from the Strip before Hamas is disarmed.
Hamas maintains that the plan must be implemented, while the roadmap issued by the Peace Council on July 31, titled “Roadmap for Completing the Implementation of US President Donald Trump’s Comprehensive Plan for Peace in Gaza,” calls for weapons to be placed in storage and for the Israeli withdrawal to proceed gradually and in parallel.
