WEST BANK, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), An extremist Jewish settler was moderately wounded in a stabbing operation in the Palestinian village of al-Auja near Jericho in the occupied West Bank on Sunday morning.
According to media sources, the settler is an ultra-Orthodox (haredi) Jew from the illegal settlement of Beitar Illit and works as an army soldier.
The settler was stabbed by a Palestinian young man from behind after stopping to shop at stores in al-Auja.
The stabber fled the scene, prompting a military and police manhunt.
Security blockades have been established in the area. Several army and police units, backed by military aircraft, have been deployed to participate in the search for the young man.
Palestinian resistance factions praised Sunday’s operation as a legitimate response to daily settler crimes and terrorism across the West Bank.
