WEST BANK, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Five Palestinians were injured on Friday evening when a group of Jewish settlers attacked a Palestinian family harvesting olives in the Tel Rumeida area of al-Khalil, in the southern occupied West Bank.
Local sources said Jewish settlers assaulted members of the Abu Aisha family while they were working on their agricultural land, leaving five people with injuries and bruises of varying severity.
Jewish settler attacks escalate during olive harvest
The assault comes amid escalating Jewish settler attacks on Palestinian farmers since the beginning of this year’s olive harvest season.
These attacks have included physical assaults, gunfire, threats, restrictions preventing farmers from reaching their land, the uprooting of olive trees, damage to agricultural property and equipment, and the theft of harvested crops.
Across the occupied West Bank, Palestinian farmers face growing dangers as repeated settler attacks threaten their presence on their land and prevent them from accessing it safely.
The attacks also endanger the livelihoods of thousands of Palestinian families who depend on the annual olive harvest to meet their basic needs.
Farmers face mounting pressure near settlements
The continuing attacks during the olive harvest season have placed additional pressure on Palestinian farmers, particularly those whose lands lie near Israeli settlements and settlement outposts.
In these areas, settlers repeatedly attempt to prevent farmers from accessing and cultivating their land or harvesting their crops, further threatening their livelihoods and their ability to maintain a presence on their agricultural property.
