Gaza Burn Patients Lose Access to MSF Medical Support

GAZA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has warned that the production of facial burn treatment masks in the Gaza Strip has come to a halt due to Israeli restrictions on the entry of medical materials and supplies, placing burn victims, including children, at risk of permanent disfigurement and lifelong disabilities.

“Due to restrictions and blockages by the Israeli authorities of essential items, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is unable to continue supporting patients who have suffered extensive facial injuries, including burns,” MSF said in a press release on Saturday.

“We produced the last 3D-printed mask for victims of severe burns in Gaza on October 14, 2026,” Dr. Feras Swairjo, an MSF physiotherapist manager, said.

“We have the medical expertise and the capacity to help these patients, but we are being deprived of the basic materials needed to do [our] work,” Swairjo affirmed.

“Every day, we witness the devastating consequences of severe burns on our patients in Gaza, many of whom are small children. Some have suffered extensive injuries from Israeli airstrikes, while others have sustained burns while cooking in overcrowded tents or on open fires,” the MSF official elaborated.

“Without these specialized masks, patients face the risk of permanent facial disfigurement and disabilities that can affect their ability to move, see, or even breathe normally,” he added.

He called on Israel to end this “man-made problem” and “allow the unrestricted entry of the medical materials needed to treat patients now.”
