Gaza: Government bodies dissolved to pave the way for NCAG formation

GAZA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Government authorities in Gaza have officially dissolved the government emergency committee to facilitate the transfer of administrative control to the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG), following arrangements with Palestinian factions.

The decision, which was announced on Monday, coincided with the resignation of Mohamed Abdul-Khaleq al-Farra from his dual roles as head of the emergency committee and acting head of the governmental follow-up committee. His departure confirms the initiation of handover procedures driven by the political and administrative demands of the current transitional phase.

According to a statement issued today by the Government Media Office (GMO), all administrative and legal preparations for the transfer of powers have been finalized, following consultations with representatives of Palestinian factions and civil society institutions, in the presence of a UN official, as part of a national framework to reorganize governance in the Strip.

GMO noted that “civil servants will continue performing their technical and professional duties to maintain essential public services and prevent an administrative vacuum, while affirming their readiness to operate under the supervision of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza once it assumes its responsibilities.”

The authorities in Gaza also called for swiftly enabling NCAG to start its work, stressing that this move is vital to alleviating dire humanitarian conditions and bolstering the resilience of the population amid the ongoing war and blockade.
