GAZA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), The Gaza Ministry of Health said on Monday that hospitals and medical centers recorded unprecedented patient volumes during the first half of 2026, as the enclave’s health system continued operating at maximum capacity despite exceeding its limits.
In a statement, the ministry said emergency departments received 997,844 patients, while outpatient clinics recorded 826,060 visits. Hospitals also admitted 111,378 patients during the same period.
Medical teams performed 57,112 complex and emergency surgeries, as well as 760 life-saving cardiac catheterization procedures.
The ministry said health facilities also supplied and distributed 32,186 units of blood to meet the needs of emergency operations and patients suffering severe bleeding.
Medical staff conducted 47,629 dialysis sessions for 3,912 patients with kidney failure, while mental health clinics received 45,000 patients.
Rehabilitation services also provided 73,000 physical therapy sessions.
Medical officials and UN agencies have repeatedly warned that Gaza’s health system is on the verge of collapse.
According to the ministry, 26 of the Gaza Strip’s 38 hospitals are out of service, while shortages of essential medicines have exceeded 50 percent.
Medical supply shortages have reached 70 percent, and the shortfall in laboratory testing materials has surpassed 87 percent, placing the lives of thousands of patients at risk.
