GAZA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), The Ministry of Interior and National Security in Gaza praised the role of the local police in protecting the internal front and serving the public despite the exceptional conditions facing the Gaza Strip, marking Palestinian Police Day on July 1.
In a statement issued Wednesday, the ministry expressed appreciation for the leadership, officers, noncommissioned officers and personnel of the Palestinian police, saying they continue to carry out their duties amid complex field conditions.
The ministry said police officers are working to preserve civil peace and maintain social stability while Israeli military operations continue to target various aspects of life across the Gaza Strip.
According to the statement, nearly 2,000 police commanders, officers and personnel have been martyred in Gaza over the course of the force’s history while carrying out their professional duties.
The ministry highlighted several prominent senior figures, including Maj. Gen. Tawfiq Jabr and Maj. Gen. Mahmoud Salah, both of whom were martyred while performing their duties during the genocide.
It also said the sacrifices of wounded police personnel reflected the institution’s level of commitment, while detained members of the force continue to face harsh conditions in Israeli prisons.
The ministry said these sacrifices formed part of the broader national effort to preserve security and stability.
It renewed its commitment to carrying out its responsibilities, stressing that attacks on police headquarters and personnel would not prevent the institution from continuing its work.
The ministry said it would continue providing security services to the public and maintaining public order under all circumstances.
It concluded by emphasizing the continuity of the police force’s institutional work and its role in managing internal affairs and strengthening social stability.
