Hamas Delegation Heads to Cairo for Palestinian National Dialogue Talks

CAIRO, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Hamas said a senior delegation headed by Zaher Jabarin, the Movement’s leader in the West Bank, is heading to Cairo for meetings with Palestinian factions and political forces as part of consultations on national dialogue initiatives.

In a statement, the Movement said the delegation includes political bureau member and head of the National Relations Office Husam Badran, and political bureau member Ghazi Hamad.

The delegation is expected to discuss ways to advance Palestinian national dialogue and bridge gaps between factions, as well as issues linked to the current stage and broader developments in the Palestinian cause.

The visit comes amid consultations hosted by Cairo to prepare for a comprehensive Palestinian dialogue. Fatah spokesman Abdel Fattah Dawla said earlier this week that visits by Jibril Rajoub and Mohammad Shtayyeh to Egypt were aimed at holding consultations with Egyptian officials and Palestinian factions ahead of launching the dialogue, according to remarks carried by Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper.

Dawla said the Fatah Movement seeks through these consultations to reorganize the Palestinian political house and reach understandings that preserve unified national representation within the Palestine Liberation Organization, as well as the unity of Palestinian territory and the political system.

Palestinian sources told the newspaper that meetings with Egyptian officials are examining the possibility of accelerating the dialogue process, while any direct Fatah-Hamas meetings remain linked to progress in the consultations.

The Egyptian efforts build on previous rounds hosted in Cairo. On January 14, 2026, Palestinian factions met at Egypt’s invitation to discuss requirements related to the Gaza ceasefire. Their statement at the time affirmed continued work to unify Palestinian positions, support the transitional national committee to administer Gaza, and move toward unity of the political system and independent national decision-making.
