DOHA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), A delegation from the Hamas Movement, led by the head of its Shura Council, Mohammed Darwish, offered condolences to Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, following the death of the Father Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
In a statement issued Tuesday, the delegation expressed its deepest condolences to the Emir, the ruling family, the government, and the people of Qatar, praying that the late Father Emir be granted mercy and forgiveness.
The delegation praised Sheikh Hamad’s humanitarian and political legacy, as well as his contributions to Qatar, the Arab and Islamic world, and his longstanding support for Palestine and the Gaza Strip.
It also reaffirmed Hamas’s appreciation for its fraternal relationship with Qatar, expressing gratitude for the country’s longstanding support during the reign of the late Father Emir and continuing under Emir Sheikh Tamim.
The delegation said it believes Qatar will continue to stand firmly with Palestine and the Gaza Strip through political support, humanitarian initiatives, and reconstruction efforts, describing such support as a moral and humanitarian responsibility toward people living under occupation.
The Hamas delegation included Khaled Mishaal, Dr. Khalil Al-Hayya, Nizar Awadallah, Dr. Mousa Abu Marzouk, Sami Khater, Mohammed Nazzal, Hussam Badran, Dr. Basem Naim, and Izzat Al-Resheq.
The Qatari Amiri Diwan announced on Sunday that the Father Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, had died at the age of 74. Funeral prayers were held at the Imam Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab Mosque before he was laid to rest at Lusail Cemetery.
