GAZA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem denied Israeli claims that the Movement is planning to capture Israeli soldiers in the Gaza Strip, describing the allegations as “pure lies and blatant incitement.”
In press statements on Wednesday, Qassem said the reports were intended to justify further Israeli attacks and violations against Palestinians in Gaza. He stressed that Hamas remains committed to the ceasefire agreement.
Qassem called on the mediators and the Peace Council to fulfill their responsibilities and take action to halt Israel’s continued violations, saying they constitute a blatant breach of the ceasefire agreement.
His remarks came after Israel’s Channel 14 reported on Monday that Hamas was planning to capture Israeli soldiers in the Gaza Strip. The report provided no clear details or evidence to substantiate the claim.
Hamas again rejected the allegations, saying they were part of an incitement campaign aimed at justifying further Israeli escalation as Israeli forces continue to violate the ceasefire agreement.
Qassem urged the mediators and the Peace Council to intervene to halt the violations, preserve the ceasefire and prevent a further deterioration of the situation in Gaza.
