GAZA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem said Israeli claims that the Movement has violated the ceasefire agreement and resumed military activity are part of an Israeli propaganda campaign aimed at justifying Israel’s own violations of the agreement and inciting against Hamas.
In a press statement, Qassem reiterated Hamas’s commitment to the ceasefire agreement and the roadmap.
He called on all parties to compel Israel to implement what was agreed upon and fulfill its commitments.
Hamas had earlier said that the Israeli military’s killing on Thursday of Gaza Governorate Civil Police Chief Colonel Jamal Abu Kamil reflected Israel’s policy of continuing the genocidal war, deepening the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza and pushing the Strip into further chaos. Hamas described the attack as a war crime.
The Movement said the killing of Colonel Abu Kamil, along with daily Israeli violations against Palestinians in Gaza, requires immediate action by mediators to halt the Israeli government’s violations and hold it accountable.
Hamas called for Israel to be compelled to immediately comply with the provisions of the Sharm el-Sheikh ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.
