TEHRAN, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), A senior Hamas delegation participated in the official funeral ceremony for former Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who was killed in a strike carried out by the United States and Israel on February 28.

The official funeral ceremonies began on Friday in the Iranian capital, Tehran.

The ceremony, held at the Imam Khomeini Mausoleum, was attended by Iranian officials, large crowds of mourners, and representatives from numerous countries.

Proceedings began with a moment of silence, followed by the recitation of verses from the Quran.

The official ceremonies, which are scheduled to continue throughout the day, are being attended by heads of government, parliamentary leaders, foreign ministers, and special envoys from nearly 100 countries.

Public funeral ceremonies will begin on Saturday, with mourners expected to gather at the Imam Khomeini Mausoleum from 6:00 a.m. to observe a moment of silence and offer condolences. Iranian authorities plan to bury Khamenei on Thursday, July 9, at the Imam Reza Shrine in the city of Mashhad.
