NABLUS, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Hamas leader Mahmoud Mardawi called on Wednesday for supporting Palestinian families besieged by settlers in the town of Qusra, southeast of Nablus, and breaking the siege imposed on them.
In a statement, Mardawi appealed to residents of Qusra and surrounding villages and towns to stand united with the families facing settler siege and attacks, and to strengthen their field presence around the town.
He said protecting and supporting residents is a national responsibility shared by all Palestinians, stressing that what is happening in Qusra is a new attempt to impose forced displacement, intimidate residents and push them to leave their land.
Mardawi said the steadfastness of residents and their attachment to their homes and land represent the strongest response to the plans of Israel and its settlers, adding that they will not succeed in imposing their settlement schemes no matter how far their violence and aggression escalate.
He praised the resilience of Qusra residents and Palestinians across the West Bank in confronting daily settler attacks, calling for strengthening protection and support committees to safeguard residents and help them remain on their land.
Mardawi also called for unified official, factional and popular positions, and for greater solidarity among Palestinian villages and towns, saying such unity forms a barrier against settlement and displacement plans.
Settlers have continued, for the fourth consecutive day, to besiege the home of Yusuf Abdussalam Abu Rida in the Jabal Ras Al-Ain area of Qusra in an attempt to expel its residents and seize the property.
Local sources said large numbers of settlers arrived near the home on Wednesday morning, blocked the road leading to it with rocks and surrounded it with a metal fence, as dozens of Israeli soldiers were deployed in the area.
The Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission documented 2,256 attacks by Israeli occupation forces and settlers in the West Bank during July, amid escalating assaults on Palestinians, their land and their property.
The commission recorded 798 settler attacks during the same period, which led to the killing of seven Palestinians in Ramallah and Nablus by armed settler militias, along with 440 incidents involving property damage and land bulldozing.
It also documented 11,074 attacks by Israeli forces and settlers in the West Bank during the first half of 2026, reflecting the growing pace of assaults against Palestinians.
