GAZA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), The Hamas Movement has reiterated its readiness to hand over governance of the Gaza Strip to the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Hamas accused the Israeli occupation regime and Nickolay Mladenov, the US-sponsored Board of Peace envoy, of blocking the committee from executing its mandate in Gaza.
Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem dismissed claims by some Board of Peace members that his Movement is unwilling to relinquish governance in Gaza, calling them “lies and misinformation.”
Spokesman Qassem asserted that these remarks are intended to provide political cover for Israel’s ongoing aggression against Gaza.
The spokesman affirmed that Hamas remains fully committed to its pledge to hand over all administrative responsibilities in Gaza to the committee, including the security portfolio.
The spokesman said that both Israel and Mladenov are responsible for obstructing the committee’s entry into the Gaza Strip, preventing it from assuming its duties.
He accused Mladenov of complicating the process by tying multiple independent tracks to a single issue within the agreement, a move he said contradicts the peace vision laid out for Gaza by US president Donald Trump.
Furthermore, he said that the Board of Peace team lacks the leverage to pressure Israel into allowing the committee to enter Gaza or provide the necessary means for it to carry out its mandate.
