OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), The Hamas Movement has warned against escalating Israeli attempts to impose its school curriculum on Palestinian students in Occupied Jerusalem, calling education a “central battleground in the struggle over the city’s identity and the consciousness of future generations.”
In a statement on Monday, member of Hamas’s political bureau Haroun Nasiruddin said that the plan to impose the Israeli curriculum is part of a systematic scheme to reshape Palestinian consciousness and entrench the occupation, stressing that the Palestinian people are stronger than all Judaization attempts.
“The Israeli occupation will not succeed in imposing its narrative on Palestinian students,” Nasiruddin said, stressing that the Palestinian identity of Jerusalem runs far too deep to be wiped out by Israeli curricula and policies.
“Policies of Judaization, settlement expansion, land annexation, and home demolitions, alongside attacks on education, are part of a single strategy aimed at altering Jerusalem’s identity and breaking Palestinians’ bonds with their land and history,” Nasiruddin added.
Official Israeli data presented to the Knesset in January 2026 revealed that 36 percent of east Jerusalem’s official schools (102 institutions) now teach the Israeli curriculum, up from 23 percent (61 schools) during the 2023–2024 academic year.
