OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), The Hamas Movement has warned of a plan by extremist Jewish groups to stage mass settler break-ins at the Aqsa Mosque on Thursday to mark what they call the destruction of the temple, calling the move a “blatant violation of the Islamic holy site’s sanctity and a direct provocation to Muslims worldwide.”
“The attempts taking place in Jerusalem to change its religious and historical identity and today’s act of painting the ‘Messiah’ symbol on the stones of the Aqsa Mosque’s eastern courtyard are blatant aggression that cannot be ignored. It will be met with greater anger, more confrontation and resistance against the occupation and its settler groups, who will never find peace on our land and in our holy places,” Hamas said in a statement released on Wednesday.
“We affirm that the Aqsa Mosque will remain purely Islamic, indivisible and impervious to Judaization,” Hamas added.
The Movement urged Palestinian citizens from Jerusalem and 1948 occupied Palestine to frequent the Aqsa Mosque and intensify their presence in its courtyards and the areas around it to protect it against desecration and Judaization.
