ISTANBUL, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), The Hamas Movement has welcomed recent remarks made by Mohsen Rezaee, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, calling for an end to regional wars, including in Gaza and Lebanon.
In a statement on Thursday, senior Hamas official Basem Naim said that “stopping the conflicts across the region serves the higher interests of its people and future.”
Naim warned that the Israeli occupation regime uses wars to fragment the region, destabilize it, and drain its resources.
The Iranian president’s communications office announced last Sunday that president Masoud Pezeshkian had appointed Rezaee as secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, which is Iran’s top security body.
Rezaee, the former commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, replaces Mohamed Zolghadr, who has been appointed as a political adviser to supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei. The position was formerly held by Ali Larijani, who was assassinated in a US-Israeli strike in March.
