AMMAN (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Israeli occupation army said that missiles have been launched from Iran, as sirens are being heard across Israel on Tuesday evening.
Israeli Hebrew media said that more than 100 missiles were launched into Israel from Iran. Other media outlets said that the number of missiles was double that figure.
“The air defense system is fully operational, detecting and intercepting threats wherever it is needed, even at these moments,” Israeli army spokesperson Daniel Hagari said.
“Since we are dealing with different types of threats, it is possible that the alerts will operate in large areas.”
For its part, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) said the missile attack under way on Israel is in response to the killing of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah last week as well as that of the Hamas leader Ismail Haneyya earlier this year.
“In response to the martyrdom of Ismail Haneyya, Hassan Nasrallah and (IRGC Guards commander) Nilforoshan, we targeted the heart of the occupied territories,” the IRGC said in a statement.
