Jerusalem (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Palestinian scholars have issued a stern warning over Israel’s escalating activities around Al-Aqsa Mosque, stressing that the gathering of more than 50,000 Jewish settlers at Al-Buraq Square near the Western Wall, along with the performance of collective Talmudic prayers and rituals under the protection of Israeli forces, represents an extremely dangerous indication of a broader plan to Judaize Jerusalem and impose full Israeli control over Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Israeli Preparations to Consolidate Full Control over Al-Aqsa Mosque
The Council said these measures are part of a gradual process aimed at imposing a new reality in Jerusalem and at Al-Aqsa Mosque. The process begins with intensifying Talmudic rituals and Jewish presence and could ultimately lead to the partitioning of the mosque and the establishment of full Israeli control over it.
The Council stressed that what is taking place goes far beyond the performance of religious rituals and constitutes a deliberate attempt to consolidate Israeli sovereignty over Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque. It also warned of the consequences of allowing this dangerous trajectory to continue without active political, popular, and religious resistance.
Warning of a Shift toward Partition and Full Israeli Control
The Palestinian scholars emphasized that recent developments must be viewed as an advanced stage of Israel’s dangerous plans. They warned that criminal silence over the situation could encourage further and more dangerous measures aimed at imposing new realities on the ground and undermining the identity, status, and significance of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
They strongly criticized what they described as the “criminal silence” of the Muslim world over the developments at Al-Aqsa, as well as the role of the international community, Arab and Islamic governments, scholarly institutions, and Islamic movements. They called on all parties to fulfill their responsibilities toward Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Islamic World Urged to End Normalization and Confront the Occupation
The Council called on Arab and Islamic countries to take immediate measures, beginning with the cancellation of normalization agreements, the suspension of all forms of political, military, and economic cooperation with Israel, the withdrawal of ambassadors, and the severing of all relations with figures involved in ongoing attacks against Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The Council also called for an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and urged practical efforts to establish a permanent Islamic political, diplomatic, and legal front capable of confronting Israel’s plans and exerting pressure to end US support for these policies.
Calls for Immediate Political and Diplomatic Action
The scholars strongly called for the establishment of an emergency fund to support Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque and to strengthen the steadfastness of Jerusalem’s residents and those defending the mosque. They stressed that protecting Al-Aqsa must not remain limited to statements and formal positions, but requires practical measures commensurate with the seriousness of the current situation.
The Council urged Islamic and scholarly institutions to fulfill their responsibilities by giving greater prominence to the issue of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa in Friday sermons, religious lessons, and gatherings. It also called for broad media campaigns to expose the plans targeting the mosque to audiences around the world.
Palestinian Scholars and Media Urged to Mobilize for Al-Aqsa
The Council called on young people, public platforms, and media figures to play an active role in defending Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque. It emphasized the importance of keeping the issue of Al-Aqsa alive in public consciousness and providing full support to Jerusalem’s residents and defenders who are confronting Israeli measures.
The Palestinian scholars concluded their warning by stating that Al-Aqsa Mosque is currently facing dangerous plans aimed at erasing its identity and status, and that the current stage requires an urgent and active Islamic position capable of preventing the completion of the plan to Judaize Jerusalem and impose full control over Al-Aqsa Mosque.
