IOA Extends Administrative Detention of Palestinian Journalist Bushra al-Taweel

Ramallah, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) has extended the administrative detention of Palestinian journalist Bushra al-Taweel, 33, for an additional four months.

According to the Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) on Monday, Taweel has been held in solitary confinement for about 50 days and is reportedly being subjected to physical abuse and maltreatment.

Meanwhile, legal teams are pressing for an end to her isolation and seeking her release, although frequent prison transfers continue to hinder lawyer visits.

PPS warned of escalating Israeli punitive measures targeting Palestinian female prisoners, including administrative detention, solitary confinement, abuse, and deprivation of medical treatment.

PPS also pointed to the spread of scabies among female detainees in Israeli prisons.

PPS appealed to international human rights organizations, particularly the Red Cross, to urgently intervene to end Bushra al-Taweel’s solitary confinement, ensure her safety, and work for her release.

It also urged the Red Cross to continue monitoring incarceration conditions for all Palestinian women in Israeli jails.
