IOA issues partial eviction orders for two Jerusalem homes

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) delivered partial eviction orders for two Palestinian homes in the Batn al-Hawa neighborhood of Silwan district, east Jerusalem.

According to a statement from the Jerusalem Governorate, the eviction orders cover sections of the homes as well as the family’s parking area, under the pretext that the land has belonged to Yemenite Jews in 1881.

The statement noted that the IOA granted the family 21 days to carry out the eviction orders after Israel’s higher court rejected the family’s appeal last week.

Dozens of Jerusalemite families in Silwan are facing imminent displacement after Israel’s higher court upheld eviction orders against them.

Late last month, the court rejected an appeal against the eviction of 32 households in Batn al-Hawa, an area of Silwan perched on a hill just south of Jerusalem’s Old City.

The ruling affects more than 200 residents, who now await final eviction notices and expect Israeli police to forcibly remove them by mid-March or earlier.

“It is final, absolutely final,” said Zuhair Rajabi, one of those facing eviction. “There is no chance. We are trying to do something [to stop it], but it will probably be difficult, especially with this government,” he told a journalist from The Times of Israel news website.

The decision marks the latest blow for Palestinians in Silwan, where families have been gradually displaced through court measures to make way for Jewish settlers linked to the right‑wing Ateret Cohanim organization, which aims to expand the Jewish presence in the Arab neighborhoods of east Jerusalem.
