IOF demolishes Palestinian shops south of Nablus

NABLUS, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) destroyed several commercial stores in the central market area of Beita town, south of Nablus in the West Bank, in the early hours of Monday morning.

Local sources said that large numbers of Israeli troops, accompanied by bulldozers, stormed the Beita market and started demolishing five stores belonging to residents of the town.

Owners and residents attempted to salvage vegetables and goods from the targeted stores before the demolitions began, but Israeli forces fired tear gas canisters and stun grenades at them and at an ambulance, preventing them from reaching the area.

Bulldozers left widespread destruction in the market and wreaked havoc on property. It was the second time this market was demolished by Israeli forces.

The town of Beita has for years faced repeated raids and attacks by Israeli forces and settler groups.

The establishment of illegal outposts on Mount Sobeih and Mount Arma has turned Beita into a frequent flashpoint for confrontations with extremist settlers and Israeli forces.
