Speaking at a weekly press conference in Tehran, Jahangir said many victims suffered severe bodily injuries and disfigurement in the explosions, complicating efforts to identify their remains and return them to their families, according to Iran’s official IRNA news agency.
Iranian authorities had previously reported a death toll of 3,468 from the attacks.
Iran and the US announced a 14-point agreement on June 14, brokered by Pakistan, aimed at ending the war on all fronts and resolving disputes through dialogue and negotiations.
The memorandum, known as the Islamabad Understanding, took effect on June 18 after being signed electronically by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and US President Donald Trump.
