Israel allocates 120 million shekels for new settlement project

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (The Palestine Information Centre) The Israeli government on Monday allocated 120 million shekels for a new settlement plan in the occupied West Bank.

The plan seeks to take over archaeological sites in the West Bank and is set to be implemented over the next three years.

The Israeli government claims that the plan was approved in order to protect the ancient archaeological sites in the West Bank.

It said that archeological sites in the West Bank witnessed increasing damage in the last years due to “hostile policies,” adding that there are over 3,000 antiquity sites in the West Bank, 80% of which are in Area C.

The plan was advanced by the Israeli Minister of Heritage, Amihai Eliyahu, Minister of Finance, Bezalel Smotrich, and Minister of Tourism, Haim Katz.
