Israel Bans Khadija Khuwais from Al-Aqsa for Six Months

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Israeli occupation authorities on Wednesday banned Jerusalemite activist Khadija Khuwais from entering Aqsa Mosque for six months after being summoned for investigation, as restrictions targeting Palestinian worshipers and Murabitat activists in Occupied Jerusalem continue.

The latest measure adds to a series of restrictions imposed on Khuwais in recent months. In March 2026, she received two separate orders: one banning her from traveling and another barring her from Aqsa Mosque for six months.

Israeli authorities based their latest summonses on accusations that she had been “encouraging female students to travel to Aqsa Mosque and maintain a presence there.”

Previous measures against Khuwais have also included orders barring her from entering the occupied West Bank or communicating with specific individuals.

Exclusion orders from Aqsa and Jerusalem approach 800

The number of exclusion orders issued by Israeli authorities barring Palestinians from Jerusalem and Aqsa Mosque since the beginning of 2026 has risen to nearly 800, according to figures from the Jerusalem Governorate.

The figures included 15 exclusion orders issued during the first six days of September alone.

The governorate said the number recorded during those six days approached the total documented throughout July and August combined, when 23 orders were issued, 17 in July and six in August.

During August, the Jerusalem Governorate documented six exclusion orders, five of which barred Palestinians from Aqsa Mosque, amid continuing Israeli measures restricting Palestinians’ access to the Islamic holy site.

The measures come during the Jewish holiday season, which began with Rosh Hashanah, amid Palestinian warnings over tighter restrictions on worshipers and an increase in Jewish settler raids on Aqsa Mosque during the holiday period.
