BEIRUT, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), The Israeli army carried out several explosions in southern Lebanon on Monday, alongside artillery shelling and systematic burning of homes and civilian structures in several southern Lebanese towns and villages.
Around midday, Israeli forces advanced into the Hawshin area on the western outskirts of the town of Mays al-Jabal in the Marjayoun district. At the same time, artillery shelling targeted a house in the area.
Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA) reported that the Israeli military carried out a large explosion in the area between the towns of Kfar Tebnit and Arnoun in the Nabatieh district of southern Lebanon.
The official Lebanese news agency also reported that Israeli forces had been setting fire to homes in the town of Khiam since the morning while continuing operations inside the town. The activity was accompanied by machine-gun fire, and a blaze broke out in the area.
Israeli forces also shelled the town of Mansouri in the Tyre district with artillery overnight and opened machine-gun fire toward Wadi al-Salouqi early Monday.
After midnight Sunday into Monday, Israeli artillery repeatedly and intensively targeted the Ali al-Taher heights, the vicinity of al-Dabsha Hill, and the Doha Kfar Rumman area.
On Monday morning, Israeli forces carried out a large explosion in the town of Zawtar al-Sharqiyah in the Nabatieh district, while artillery shelling targeted the town of Bani Hayyan in the Marjayoun district.
Israeli drones were also reported flying over the Lebanese capital, Beirut, and its southern suburbs.
Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health said Sunday that the cumulative death toll from Israeli military attacks on Lebanon between March 2 and August 9 had reached 4,335, with another 12,277 people wounded.
The Israeli army continues to violate the de-escalation and ceasefire agreement signed in Washington under US auspices by carrying out explosions and opening fire in southern Lebanon.
Israel also continues to occupy areas of southern Lebanon, some of which it has held for decades and others since the confrontations that took place between 2023 and 2024. During the current military offensive, Israeli forces have also advanced more than 10 kilometers into Lebanese territory.
