WEST BANK, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), The Israeli occupation authorities have extended the closure of three major refugee camps in the northern West Bank until the end of September, as part of an ongoing military escalation targeting civilian infrastructure and tightening restrictions on Palestinian residents.
Local sources said the new military orders apply to the Jenin, Tulkarem, and Nur Shams refugee camps. The extension was issued just two days before the previous order was set to expire, effectively formalizing ongoing military operations and preventing Palestinians from entering or leaving the camps.
The orders impose strict restrictions prohibiting anyone from entering, remaining in, or leaving the camps without special permits issued by the Israeli military.
In Jenin Governorate, Israeli occupation forces (IOF) continued raids and arrest campaigns, storming the town of Qabatiya and conducting extensive searches of homes and businesses. Several young Palestinian men were arrested and taken to unknown locations amid heightened tensions.
Since the beginning of the year, the IOF has carried out widespread demolition and bulldozing operations in the Jenin and Tulkarem refugee camps, destroying infrastructure and homes. The campaign has forcibly displaced thousands of Palestinian families while preventing residents from returning to inspect their property or repair the damage caused by the military assaults.
Meanwhile, clashes erupted in the village of Burin, south of Nablus, after the IOF and groups of Jewish settlers carried out a joint incursion. IOF soldiers fired tear gas and stun grenades to facilitate the settlers’ entry as they attempted to attack Palestinian property.
During the raid, settlers also attempted to attack a concrete factory on the western side of the village before spreading into its eastern neighborhoods.
Palestinian residents confronted the attacks amid growing concerns over the increasing frequency of settler violence carried out under the protection of the IOF across the West Bank.
The escalation comes as official figures indicate that more than 1,182 Palestinians have been killed in the occupied West Bank since October 2023. During the same period, nearly 24,000 Palestinians have been arrested, while thousands more have been wounded.
In Ramallah Governorate, the town of Turmus Ayya and the villages of Abu Falah and Al-Mughayyir endured a complete power outage overnight after the IOF directly targeted the area’s main electricity transformer with live ammunition and tear gas during a military raid.
Field sources said Israeli soldiers stormed the residential neighborhoods in Turmus Ayya on foot and fired heavy rounds of live ammunition, damaging the electrical network and disrupting essential services. Palestinian utility crews have been working since early morning to repair the damage and restore electricity to affected residents.
