Israeli army drills ignite large fires across Jordan Valley pastures

JORDAN VALLEY, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Large fires broke out Tuesday in grazing and pasture areas south and west of the villages of Bardala and Kardala in the northern Jordan Valley after the Israeli occupation forces conducted military exercises using live ammunition.

Local sources said the blazes were sparked by flying shrapnel during the drills, igniting dry grass and scorching vast stretches of pasture land.

They noted that the lands affected by the fires have for years faced increasing settler encroachment, while Israeli forces have imposed a military ban preventing Palestinian farmers and herders from accessing or using them for grazing.
