Israeli artillery shelling and gunfire target eastern Gaza

GAZA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Israeli forces renewed artillery shelling and gunfire across several areas of the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, continuing violations of the ceasefire agreement on the ground.

A local source reported that Israeli artillery shelled areas east and northeast of the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, amid continued artillery fire in the area.

Israeli tanks also fired rounds and shells toward western areas of Beit Lahia in northern Gaza.

In Gaza City, sources reported gunfire from Israeli military vehicles east of the city, alongside artillery shelling targeting eastern areas. The Tuffah neighborhood in eastern Gaza City also came under heavy Israeli tank fire. Israeli naval vessels fired rounds and shells toward the Gaza City coastline.

Witnesses also reported Israeli artillery shelling northeast of Khan Yunis, accompanied by heavy tank fire toward areas east of the city.

Since the ceasefire was announced on October 10, 1,258 Palestinians have been killed and 4,145 injured, while 807 bodies have been recovered from beneath the rubble.

Since the start of the Israeli offensive on October 7, 2023, the Palestinian death toll has risen to 73,386, while 174,256 people have been injured, reflecting the extensive human toll of the continuing assault on the Gaza Strip.
