Israeli Authorities Block Sheikh Abbasi, Paramedic at Al-Aqsa Mosque

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), The Israeli occupation police issued on Monday orders banning Sheikh Mohamed al-Abbasi, Imam of the Aqsa Mosque, and a Jerusalemite paramedic from entering the Mosque for different periods.

According to local sources, the Israeli police detained the Aqsa Mosque Imam, Sheikh Abbasi, and handed him a notice ordering him to stay away from the Aqsa Mosque for one week.

The Israeli police also banned paramedic Saifuddin Abu Jum’ah, a resident of the holy city, from entering the Aqsa Mosque for six months.

The Israeli occupation police have recently escalated restrictions on Muslims ahead of the holy month of Ramadan, issuing orders that have banned dozens of Palestinians from Jerusalem and 1948 occupied Palestine from entering the Aqsa Mosque.

In a related context, the Hamas Movement has condemned the Israeli police for detaining Sheikh Abbasi and prohibiting his entry to the Aqsa Mosque, calling this measure “reprehensible” and a “blatant interference in the holy site’s Islamic affairs.”

In a statement on Tuesday, Hamas strongly denounced the escalating Israeli restrictions on the entry of Muslim worshipers to the Aqsa Mosque, and the decision to ban Ramadan preparations at the Mosque.

Hamas described all the measures and decisions taken by the Israeli government on Palestinian soil, particularly in Jerusalem, as “illegal.”

The Movement urged the Palestinian masses in Jerusalem, 1948 occupied Palestine, and the West Bank to travel en masse to the holy city and intensify their presence at the Aqsa Mosque during the holy month of Ramadan.

It also called upon the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Arab and Islamic nations and governments to take urgent action to protect the Aqsa Mosque from Israeli violations.
