Israeli Authorities Force Two Palestinians to Demolish Homes in Umm al-Fahm

UMM AL-FAHM, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Israeli authorities forced two Palestinian citizens in the city of Umm Fahm to demolish their homes under the pretext of unlicensed construction.

According to media sources, Saeed Igbariya was forced to demolish his own home in Umm al-Fahm’s al-Oyoun neighborhood following a last-minute notice from the Israeli police, who threatened to send in bulldozers and charge him exorbitant demolition fees and fines.

Igbariya had to demolish the house, which he had built over two years ago on his own land, despite having previously obtained a court order freezing the measure.

The demolition of Igbariya’s home came just a few days after another citizen, Mohamed Khalifa, was forced to raze his own house in the Suwaisa neighborhood of Umm al-Fahm under the same pretext.

Having invested more than 600,000 shekels into building his home, Khalifa was preparing to move in to start a new chapter of his life following his upcoming marriage.

These new demolitions come amid a planning and housing crisis affecting Palestinians in 1948 occupied Palestine, driven by stringent Israeli restrictions on the issuance of building permits.
