OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Israeli occupation authorities have shut down the Abnaa Al-Quds Club in the Old City of Jerusalem following an order issued by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir.
In a statement on Thursday, the Jerusalem Governorate condemned the closure as another measure targeting Palestinian national, sports and social institutions in the city.
It said the decision was part of a systematic policy of restrictions aimed at undermining the Palestinian presence in occupied Jerusalem.
The governorate noted that Abnaa Al-Quds Club is one of the Old City’s longest-established sports and social institutions, playing a central role in supporting Palestinian youth and strengthening their national and social engagement.
It said the club’s longstanding community role has made it a target of Israeli policies aimed at weakening institutions that provide essential services to local residents.
The governorate stressed that the closure forms part of a broader campaign against Palestinian national activities and institutions through shutdown orders and security restrictions.
It added that such measures seek to disrupt community and institutional life while depriving Palestinians in Jerusalem of spaces dedicated to cultural, social and sporting activities.
