Israeli court extends detention of female activist

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (The Palestine Information Centre)An Israeli court extended the detention of Palestinian female activist Samah Mahameed until next Wednesday.

Mahameed, from Umm al-Fahm city within the Green Line, was arrested last Thursday after she was summoned for investigation as part of the Israeli escalating targeting of Jerusalemites and worshipers at Aqsa Mosque.

Mahameed was charged with inciting violence on social media.

Samah Mahameed, 33, is well-known for her strong defense of the Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem.

She was denied access to Aqsa Mosque more than once. The first time was in 2018 for approximately 15 days on charges of stubborn patriotism and belonging to the Islamic Movement.

Furthermore, she was denied access to the holy Islamic site for three months after her arrest, along with seven other female activists, on charges of attacking Israeli police forces and settlers.

Earlier Monday, hundreds of extremist Jewish settlers forced their way into the Aqsa Mosque in Occupied Jerusalem on Monday, the third day of the Sukkot holiday.

The Islamic Endowments Department in Jerusalem said that 1,478 settlers, led by the fanatic rabbi Yehuda Glick, stormed the Mosque since the early morning hours and carried out provocative tours and Talmudic rituals in its courtyards.
