Israeli court to hold hearing for hunger striker Kayed Fasfous

RAMALLAH, (The Palestine Information Centre)The Israeli high court of Justice in Occupied Jerusalem is slated to hold on Monday a hearing over the appeal filed against the administrative detention of Palestinian prisoner Kayed al-Fasfous, who has been on hunger strike for 61 days.

According to the Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs, the court hearing will be held to study a petition calling for an end to the administrative detention of Fasfous.

The Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS), for its part, said that the Israeli occupation authority still refuses to release Fasfous despite his prolonged hunger strike in protest at his illegal detention.

Prisoner Fasfous has been exposed since he started his hunger strike to different repressive measures and harsh incarceration conditions by the Israeli prison service and military courts, including his detention in isolation cells.

As a result of his protracted hunger strike, the health of prisoner Fasfous has worsened sharply and reached a critical stage, according to PPS.
