WEST BANK, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Extremist Jewish settlers launched a wave of attacks and violations under direct protection from Israeli forces across the West Bank and Jerusalem last night and at dawn Wednesday.
In the northern West Bank town of Beita, south of Nablus, mosque loudspeakers blared alarms urging residents to rally and thwart a settler attack on the town’s edge in the Qammas area. Israeli forces later stormed the neighborhood to shield and support the settlers.
Nearby, residents of Jalud, southeast of Nablus, clashed with settlers after midnight, successfully standing their ground and forcing the attackers to retreat.
Settlers also attacked a Palestinian home near the al‑Marba’ah military checkpoint south of Nablus.
In the central West Bank, settlers opened heavy fire on Palestinian homes on the outskirts of Turmus Ayya, north of Ramallah, in an attempt to terrorize local residents.
The settlers also set fire to fields belonging to Turmus Ayya farmers. The fires spread rapidly, consuming wide swaths of trees and crops, while residents and civil defense teams struggled to contain the flames and prevent them from reaching nearby homes.
In Jerusalem, scores of settlers stormed the town of Hizma, north of the holy city, under protection from Israeli forces, prompting local residents to defend their homes and property and clash with the attackers.
