Jerusalem family forced to demolish two apartments as Israel destroys seven homes in Qalandia

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), The Israeli municipality in Jerusalem forced the Abu Sarhan family to demolish two residential apartments in Jabal Al-Mukabber, south of the occupied city, under the pretext of building without a permit.

The two apartments housed 10 family members, who now face the threat of displacement amid Israel’s continued systematic demolition policy in Jerusalem neighborhoods.

In a related development, the Israeli army demolished seven homes and several structures during a two-day military operation in Qalandia refugee camp, north of occupied Jerusalem. Israeli forces also vandalized dozens of homes and turned some of them into military barracks.

The demolitions in Jabal Al-Mukabber and Qalandia come as part of Israel’s escalating punitive and displacement policies against Jerusalemites, aimed at tightening pressure on them and emptying the city of its native residents.

Hamas had said Israel’s assault on towns and refugee camps in occupied Jerusalem, including its ongoing attack on Qalandia camp for the second consecutive day, would not break the will of Jerusalemites or their attachment to their land and holy sites.

The Movement said the mass arrests, abuse, vandalism, demolitions, conversion of homes into military barracks and organized settler violence taking place in occupied Jerusalem and other areas of the West Bank reflect Israel’s plans for annexation and the imposition of a new Judaization reality.

Hamas stressed that the escalating crimes of Israel and its settlers would only deepen Palestinians’ steadfastness, confrontation and commitment to resistance, as well as their determination to protect Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
