Maduro: Israel’s conspiracies are due to our solidarity with Palestinian people

Tehran – President of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro has lately stated that Israeli Mossad’s “conspiracies” are due to Venezuela’s strong position of solidarity with the Palestinian people.

The president of Venezuela had a meeting with Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei in his recent trip to Iran earlier this month.

In the meeting, the Venezuelan president voiced support for Palestinians and said that’s why the Zionist regime has been constantly hatching plots against Caracas through the Israeli spy agency Mossad.

“The Zionist regime [Israel] is continuously conspiring against Venezuela through its Mossad,” he stated.

In an exclusive interview with the Venezuelan president, conducted by the Spanish website of Khamenei.ir, Maduro was asked about his remark about these “conspiracies”.

“Unfortunately, imperialism and Zionism are conspiring against the progressive, revolutionary processes taking place in Latin America and the Caribbean, especially the Bolivarian Revolution,” Maduro replied.

He added, “This is because we are a true alternative, an alternative of truth and justice, an alternative of freedom, an alternative of democracy, and an alternative for realizing projects that are fully humane in the Latin American region and the Caribbean Sea.”

“In addition to this, Mossad’s conspiracies are due to our strong position of solidarity with the Palestinian people and our support of them for their regaining their historical rights and for the Palestinian Resistance. Our support of them is strong and unique, and we will continue supporting them in this manner.”

Under the presidencies of Hugo Chavez (1999-2013) and now Nicolas Maduro (2013-present), Venezuela has strongly expressed solidarity with the Palestinians.

Venezuela was the first country in Latin America to recognise the State of Palestine on the 1967 nominal borders.

In 2009, Venezuela and the Palestinian Authority established diplomatic relations and announced the opening of a Palestinian embassy in Caracas.

They have also established and economic ties, including oil deals, emergency aid and scholarships for Palestinian medical students. Venezuela was the first country to grant free travel and movement to the Palestinians without a prior visa, and grants residence rights to Palestinians.

Earlier this year, Maduro stressed that no one in the world dares to ask Caracas to abandon Palestine.

“We cannot accept such demands. It is a sin to simply think about abandoning Palestine or leaving it by itself,” he said in an interview with Al Mayadeen, which was broadcast on his country’s state television in January.

“Palestine is humanity’s holy land, and we have the Palestinian land in such high regard. We hear the name ‘Palestine’ loud and high,” Maduro affirmed, condemning the Israeli occupation’s crimes against Palestinians, saying “Israel” would pay for them one day.”

The Venezuelan leader sent a message to the Palestinian people, in which he affirmed Venezuela’s, the Venezuelan people’s, and the leader Hugo Chavez’s Bolivarian revolution’s support for Palestine.
