NABLUS, (PIC), A Palestinian man and his wife were wounded by Israeli occupation forces (IOF) in Jenin on Tuesday evening, while Jewish settlers attacked the village of Burqa, east of Ramallah, setting Palestinian property on fire.
The IOF troops also raided the village of Abu Falah and tightened military restrictions on roads across the West Bank.
Local sources said the IOF raided Nazareth Street in Jenin, set up a temporary checkpoint and detained several Palestinians, including women, before subjecting them to abuse.
The IOF opened live fire at a vehicle in the area, wounding Iyad Massad and his wife, both residents of the village of Al-Jalama, according to the same sources.
The incident comes amid daily Israeli military raids across cities, towns and refugee camps in the West Bank, often accompanied by gunfire, arrests, detentions and abuse of Palestinians.
In Ramallah, Jewish settlers attacked Palestinian homes on the outskirts of Burqa on Tuesday evening and set fire to several structures and properties, including at least one vehicle.
Residents confronted the settlers, leading to clashes in the area as settler attacks against Palestinian villages and towns continue across the West Bank.
Such attacks have included setting fire to homes, structures and vehicles, assaulting Palestinians, uprooting trees and damaging farmland and other property.
The IOF also raided Abu Falah village, northeast of Ramallah, and deployed throughout the village while tightening military restrictions on surrounding roads.
Israeli forces established a military checkpoint on the Yabrud–Silwad road, stopping Palestinian vehicles and checking passengers’ identification documents, adding to restrictions on Palestinian movement across the occupied West Bank.
Settler attacks surge across West Bank
Field data indicate a sharp rise in settler attacks this year. The Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission documented 4,286 attacks during the first seven months of 2026, an increase of 63% compared with the same period in 2025.
In August, settlers carried out 628 attacks across the occupied West Bank. Ramallah and Al-Bireh recorded the highest number, with 157 attacks, followed by Nablus with 137, al-Khalil with 120, Bethlehem with 73, Tubas with 40, Jenin with 36 and Occupied Jerusalem with 31.
The figures bring the total number of settler attacks recorded from the beginning of 2026 through the end of August to 4,914, reflecting a continued escalation in attacks against Palestinians and their property.
The August attacks directly affected 164 Palestinians, including 20 children and 17 women. Settler attacks also targeted agricultural land, with 21,508 trees damaged, including 19,375 olive trees.
The simultaneous incidents in Jenin and Ramallah reflect an escalation in both Israeli military operations and settler attacks, increasing pressure on Palestinians as roads, villages and towns across the West Bank face recurring raids, gunfire, detentions and attacks on property.
