LOD, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), More than 70 Palestinian families in the al-Mahatta neighborhood of Lod City face an imminent threat of displacement following Israeli demolition and eviction orders, some with deadlines as short as one week, issued under state land claims.
Residents of the neighborhood stressed, according to local sources, that their families have lived in the area since before the establishment of Israel, with their homes preserving nearly a century of Palestinian memory and presence. They affirmed their refusal to leave.
Residents warned that the eviction and demolition orders would pave the way for uprooting their families from the neighborhood and seizing its land for what is called the “Torah nucleus or Garin Torani.”
Dozens of families have called for fair and lasting solutions to ensure they remain in their homes, affirming their attachment to their land and their rejection of any Israeli demolition and eviction orders that threaten their presence in their neighborhood.
