GAZA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Dialysis services at southern Gaza’s Nasser Hospital are at risk of a complete shutdown due to an acute shortage of “Bibag” units, which contain dry sodium bicarbonate powder essential for dialysis treatment.
A shortage of Bibag, a core component of dialysis systems, could render machines inoperable and force a shutdown of routine treatments, the hospital warned in a statement on Wednesday.
The hospital highlighted that dialysis is a life-sustaining treatment that cannot be delayed or stopped, warning that any interruption directly exposes kidney patients to severe complications and worsens their suffering amid Gaza’s collapsing healthcare system.
The hospital stressed the urgent need to allow Bibag shipments into Gaza to prevent the shutdown of dialysis services and to maintain uninterrupted treatment.
