NABLUS, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Residents of the town of Osarin, southeast of Nablus in the occupied West Bank, repelled an attack by dozens of Jewish settlers overnight, forcing them to flee before they could enter the town.
Local residents, joined by groups of young men, mobilized collectively to confront the settlers, pelting them with stones. The confrontation forced the settlers to retreat without storming the community.
Osarin has been subjected to repeated settler attacks aimed at seizing Palestinian land and increasing pressure on its residents.
The town is surrounded by several major Israeli settlements and settlement outposts that encroach on its land and that of neighboring communities, including Beita, Aqraba, and Qabalan.
Settlers have repeatedly attempted to establish new outposts and place caravans and tents on the hills and open land between Osarin and Beita in an effort to link existing settlements and expand their territorial control.
Residents have frequently confronted these attempts, often facing settlers who operate under the protection of Israeli occupation forces, to prevent the establishment of new settlement outposts on the town’s land.
Osarin is located about 16 kilometers southeast of Nablus and is surrounded by the towns of Aqraba, Talfit, and Beita.
The town is known for its mountainous landscape and relies primarily on olive cultivation, seasonal agriculture, and employment across various sectors.
