RAMALLAH, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), The Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) has said that the Israeli occupation authority’s decision to renew the state of emergency in its jails “constitutes an official cover for the ongoing crime of genocide against Palestinian prisoners.”
“This decision means entrenching a system of policies and practices designed for the slow, deliberate killing of prisoners and the transformation of jails into open arenas for torture, starvation, medical crimes, deprivation, and systematic severe assaults on human dignity,” PPS head Abdullah al-Zaghari said in statement on Wednesday.
Zaghari condemned the international human rights system’s failure to impose deterrent measures forcing the Israeli occupation regime to end its brutality, collective punishment, and grave crimes against Palestinian detainees.
