WEST BANK, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Hamas official Abdul Rahman Shadid said on Tuesday that Israel’s expanding arrest campaign across the occupied West Bank will not break Palestinians’ resolve or weaken their attachment to their land.
Shadid said the overnight raids, which targeted dozens of Palestinians in several areas, particularly Nablus and Tulkarem, were part of Israel’s policies of collective punishment and systematic targeting of all sectors of the Palestinian society.
He said the arrest of female university students showed Israel’s determination to intimidate Palestinian youth and suppress the student movement, calling it further proof of Israel’s disregard for humanitarian and moral standards.
Shadid also condemned the targeting of released prisoners, saying it reflected a continuing policy of revenge against Palestinians who had regained their freedom after years in Israeli prisons.
He said the escalation of arrests, raids and pursuit operations reflected Israel’s growing security fears over the rise of resistance in the West Bank.
Shadid called on the international community, human rights organizations and “free people around the world” to act urgently to stop Israel’s policies, pressure for the release of Palestinian prisoners and hold Israel accountable for its ongoing violations.
He praised Palestinians in the West Bank for their steadfastness in the face of raids, repression and displacement attempts, saying their will remains stronger than Israel’s brutality.
