Palestinian Teen Injured by Settler Gunfire South of Nablus

NABLUS, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), An 18-year-old Palestinian woman was injured on Friday evening by live-fire shrapnel after Jewish settlers opened fire toward her as she stood outside her family’s home in the eastern part of Aqraba, south of Nablus in the northern occupied West Bank.

Aqraba Mayor Salah Jaber said the settlers opened fire toward the young woman, injuring her. She was taken to a hospital for treatment, with no further details immediately available about the severity of her injuries.

The attack comes amid escalating Jewish settler attacks against Palestinians and their property across the occupied West Bank, prompting growing warnings over the consequences of the violence.

In August, US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee described Israelis involved in violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank as “terrorists,” warning that such attacks were causing significant damage to Israel’s image.

In June, 14 UN experts warned of a sharp escalation in “settler terrorism” taking place with the support and complicity of the Israeli state in the occupied Palestinian territory. They warned that the violence posed an existential threat to Palestinian communities.

Around 750,000 Jewish settlers live in 156 settlements and 360 settlement outposts across the occupied West Bank, including Occupied Jerusalem, amid continuing attacks targeting Palestinians, their land and property.
