GAZA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), The Asra Media Office (AMO) has revealed that several detainees from the Gaza Strip were recently subjected to physical and sexual abuse inside Ramla jail by Israeli prison forces.
In a statement on Monday, AMO explained that prison guards at the Rakevet section of Ramla jail transferred a number of Gaza detainees to rooms without surveillance cameras, where they severely beat them, deliberately targeting their genital areas.
AMO said that those guards intentionally inflicted severe pain on restrained and blindfolded detainees by striking them in the testicles with hard objects.
AMO condemned these practices as a “form of physical and sexual torture” and a “serious violation of prisoners’ rights.”
AMO underscored that abuses targeting Gaza Strip prisoners have escalated into a near-daily pattern, occurring in tandem with ongoing severe conditions of confinement inside Israeli jails.
Such harsh conditions in Ramla jail include bringing detainees out for outdoor walks while restrained, denying them permission to pray, monitoring any covert prayer attempts, providing poor-quality food, and depriving them of obtaining enough clothing and basic supplies, AMO said.
AMO called on human rights and international organizations to take urgent action to stop the torture and abuse of Gaza detainees, ensure their protection, and hold Israeli leaders and prison personnel accountable for these violations.
