Six martyrs in Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon

BEIRUT  (Palestine Foundation Information Center) Six people, one of whom was a member of the Lebanese Internal Security Forces, have been martyred as a result of a recent Israeli attack on southern Lebanon.

In a statement on Monday evening, the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces mourned “Sergeant Ali Muhammad Nimr Mahdi, who was martyred on Sunday, following the Israeli attack that targeted his town of Houla.”

Mahdi is the first martyr among the ranks of the Internal Security Forces to be killed in Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon since October 8, the statement highlighted.

A few days ago, the town of Houla was subjected to Israeli bombardment targeting the vicinity of a mosque and leading to the death of one person and the injury of 9 others, including children, according to the National News Agency.

For its part, Hezbollah mourned, in a statement on Tuesday, Hussein Harisi, Hassan Turmos, and Ahmed Turmos, from the town of Taloussa in southern Lebanon.

The statement paid tribute to the martyrs, saying they have fell as martyrs in defense of Jerusalem, without providing further details.

This brings the number of Hezbollah’s martyrs who have been killed as a result of the Israeli attacks on the southern Lebanese border since last October 8 to 193 martyrs.

Meanwhile, Al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement, mourned Muhammad Fares and Suleiman Suleiman, “who were killed in Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon as part of the Al-Aqsa Flood Battle while performing their combat duty.”

According to the National News Agency, the Israeli occupation army opened fire at dawn Tuesday towards the Labouneh and Al-Alam mountains and the outskirts of the town of Naqoura and Alma Al-Shaab in southern Lebanon.

The agency reported that two members of Al-Quds Brigades were martyred in an airstrike just before midnight on the town of Tayr Harfa in southern Lebanon.

The outskirts of the towns of Ramiya, Al-Jebin, Al-Dhahira, Aita Al-Shaab, Beit Lev and Rmeish were also targeted by Israeli artillery shelling at night, according to the National News Agency.
